Tropic Smoothing Cleanser Review | Beauty

Tropic Skincare Cleanser Review Flat Lay Marble Fairy Lights

If I could go back and tell my teenage self one beauty-related tip it would be to step away from the baby wipes. Seriously, I wish someone had taught 16 year old me about the wonders of cleanser. Having a good cleansing routine is sooo important. Thanks to the NWmeet 2.0, I just might have found my new favourite cleanser.

I've sworn by cleanser ever since I learnt about it at the not-so-sweet age of 18. Despite this, it's taken many years of trial and error and swapping between different brands before finding one that I think I'd happily stick with forever (woah, big claim!). Let me introduce you to the wonderful Tropic Smoothing Cleanser.

I have super sensitive and (annoying) combination skin. As a result, trying new beauty or skincare products can often be daunting. It might sound silly but I just never know if it will cause my skin to burn, flare up, go red, dry out, get excessively oily or break out. Thanks to my unpredictable skin, I always try to reach for natural or cruelty-free skincare. The less chemicals there are, the kinder it will be for my skin!

In my goody bag from NWmeet, I received a full-size bottle of the Tropic smoothing cleanser, which even came with a lovely 100% bamboo cloth. Coincidentally, I had just ran out of my Bee Good cleanser, which  sadly I wasn't overly in love with. Looking on the bright side, this meant it was the perfect time to give my new Tropic cleanser a whirl.

This cleanser is an all natural, cruelty-free and vegan product. Made with natural plant-based oils, green tea extract and eucalyptus, it is such a treat for sensitive skin. At first, the amazingly strong fresh scent of eucalyptus, chamomile and lemongrass made me think the worst. I automatically assume that anything scented will be my skin's worst nightmare. In this case I couldn't have been more wrong. My skin loved it. There were no flare-ups or soreness. Nope, instead my delicate skin was left glowing! At last, I'm able to enjoy the lasting, fresh scent of a skincare product whilst having lovely, calm, cool skin. Yaaay!

All it takes is 2-4 little pumps of cleanser to remove even the toughest and fullest make-up coverage. I'm hopeful that this one bottle will last a long time. Though even if it didn't, at a great price of £16.00 for a 120ml bottle, it's one that I'll happily re-purchase over and over again. I'm always surprised when my friends tell me they still use make-up wipes or frequently sleep in their make-up. Cleansing is so quick and easy that it's just naturally become part of my morning and night time routine, just like brushing my teeth is. Simply, massage the cream into your face, then rinse off any excess cleanser or make-up with a hot, damp cloth. Dab your face dry, apply some toner and moisturiser and voila, you have happy, clean skin. It may not sound like it but it's a 1000 x easier than scrubbing your face raw with a make-up wipe.

I've only been using this cleanser for 3 weeks so far, but I've already seen a huge difference in my skin. Since using the cleanser, I've noticed so many positive changes in my skin. It doesn't irritate my skin at all. It's really tender during use and just melts away any make-up or nasties. After using the product, my skin feels light, radiant and clear. It could just be a happy coincidence but I've also noticed a reduction in sensitivity and those pesky hormonal spots are clearing too!

I also adore that it comes with a bamboo cloth. All the cleanser I've previously used come with muslin cloths. Switching from muslin cloths to bamboo was heavenly. I kind of wish I'd done it sooner. The material is amazingly soft and gentle on my face. I can't explain how thankful my skin is for Tropic and their fluffy bamboo cloths.

Being such a natural and gentle cleanser, I'd say this is perfect for almost all skin types. It's especially one to try if, like me, you suffer from ever so annoying overly-sensitive skin. Wave goodbye to your make-up wipes and fall in love with cleansing.

  1. I have the same issue with my skin! I have tried hair a normal tea tree cleanser but it actually doesn't seem to be enough, which is so annoying!
I always wish I could just try out all the cleansers while stood in the aisle at boots - preferably after trying out all of the make up in boots!

    1. I think tea tree can sometimes be a little bit too harsh for my skin so it can just cause even more outbreaks for me! Ah wouldn't that be amazing if you could just test them all?! I know Lush are often happy to give you sample pots and their cleansers always sound amazing but I'd totally recommend giving the Tropic cleanser a try, I'm so impressed by it :)

  4. Ooh this sounds amazing! I'm loving the fact that it's cruelty free as well, because like you I have such sensitive skin.

What is it like on your eyes? I only really need something that is good at taking off eye makeup as I wear quite a lot of it (I'm such a false-lashes lover).

    1. It's brilliant and the fact it's cruelty free really does help too!

If you're wearing a lot of eye makeup, it isn't the easiest product. I find if I've layered on the eye makeup it requires a lot of gentle massaging to remove all of the product. I tend to use coconut oil to remove stubborn eye makeup and then use my cleanser for the rest of my face. in my opinion, coconut oil is amazing for removing any traces of eye makeup, plus it's super delicate on your lashes and under eyes :)

    2. Hi Tropic cleanser is excellent at removing eye makeup. Take the tiniest pump of cleanser on a damp cotton wool pad and remove eye makeup using a rocking motion. Then proceed to massage 2 pumps all over your face and neck. Place your hot bamboo cloth over your face for a minute to help steam your pores (especially nice at night) and lightly buff the remainder off. Laura
